Many artists throughout the years helped develop what is known as R&B soul music such as artist like Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Barry White, Luther Vandrose, James Brown, and Issac Hayes to mention just a few. 

Soul music origin's came from the influence of gospel music and the more traditional R&B sounds.  The R&B soul sound of Memphis was more influenced by the gospel mix in cities like Memphis, than was the rhythm and blues soul of Detroit, which came up to become the smooth, polished sounds of Motown by artist such as Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, and Marvin Gaye.

Hi, i've been playing bass guitar for a year and a half now, and I've been looking into buying a new bass. I got my eyes set on the Fender '70s Jazz Bass and the Fender Aerodyne Classic Precision Bass. Styles of music that i do play are Metal, Alternative, Rock, Progressive, and Funk. Please make a suggestion bas(s)ed on which would better suit me and is the better quality bass.

I've been a bass player for about 35 years and I've always used a Fender Precision. I've tried Fender Jazz basses but I've found them to be too heavy, a little unbalanced on stage and the neck too skinny at the top.

For your styles of music, I'd pick the Precision. Why? Because you can hammer nails with it all day and it will play (and sound) beautifully at night.

For rap purists, you will find sanctuary in the form of The Mayor, with the ridiculously diverse line-up of The Cool Kids, Ghostface Killah, Scarface and DJ AM, along with the explanatory Hiphop, featuring KRS-One and Pharcyde members Fatlip and Slim Kid Tre.

The Spirit of Apollo, while a little short of classic status, is really a likable and enjoyable album in every respect, there is not one track that would make you want to press the 'skip' button and the wide-spanning collaborations are so natural and the chemistry so tight you don't even notice the switches in direction. Expect to hear more from N.A.S.A in the future, if there is any justice. Truly a landmark album.
